Sage Arias-Brown, 33, has been charged with second-degree murder in the Labor Day death of his father, Edward Brown, in Mastic, New York. Prosecutors allege Arias-Brown forced his way into his father’s apartment around 12:30 a.m., attacked him and fled. A witness reportedly heard Brown calling for help and saw Arias-Brown leaving the building.
Despite being critically wounded, authorities say Brown managed to reach a phone and call 911 himself before collapsing. Arias-Brown was arrested nearby shortly afterward, pleaded not guilty and was ordered held without bail. Authorities have not publicly established a motive.
